Lagos Seals Several Event Centers and Night Clubs in the State

Fun spots in Lagos is recently experiencing a downtime. Fun lovers may have to quit some spots as a result of the policies of the Lagos State Government. Recently, some event centers you may love to patronize have been shut down majorly due to non-payment of annual permits by their owners.

The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture has commenced a clampdown on tourism and hospitality establishments with a record of non-compliance with the statutory process of registration and payment of annual permits. The clampdown was reinforced by the State’s Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture in its bid to sanitize hospitality and tourism business.

On Wednesday 16 BNovember, the ministry officials led by the Licensing Directorate, Ms Barbara Wey, sealed 10 Degrees Event Center on Billingsway, Balmoral and Yard 158 party halls situated at Kudirat Abiola Way, all located within the Oregun area of Lagos State.

The Haven Event Centre situated at Ikeja GRA was also sealed for refusal to register the party and event center despite several notifications and contravention notices served by the State Government since 2012.

It was learned that the team carried out a similar exercise resulting in the shutdown of Cave and Vegas nightclubs in Ikeja.

Speaking to journalists, Ms Wey said the Ministry would not relent in its renewed effort to ensure all tourism and hospitality establishments in the State comply with statutory registration and payment of all dues and permits.

She further enjoined all defaulting tourism and hospitality operators to ”comply with the registration process and payment of all accrued dues in the State.”
