Borno Government acquires property worth N1.198 billion

The Borno state government acquires within one-year; property valued at  N1.198 billion to address accommodation challenges in order to cater for needs of visitors and public use within Borno state. The Commissioner of works and transport, Alhaji Adamu Lawan, said some of the properties acquired include, a property at Ngomari Airport along kano-Jos road acquired for conversion as model school, property no BO 3294 along Sir Kashim Ibrahim way allocated to state Emergency Management Agency ( SEMA) as office, NITEL territorial Headquarters along post office, and a property no. N/E 349 located at old GRA Maiduguri, Kandara palace hotel (Former Deribe hotel ) acquired for model school, property within New GRA Bama road acquired for government lodge,property along Airport road opposite Peugeot workshop acquired as Elkanemi warriors football Quarters, MT Monguno’s property  acquired as school extension and former Kanuri transport property Kano road.

Honourable Lawan said in addition to this that the Borno state government has pushed her robust plan for post-insurgency reconstruction programme by completing the installation of 130 tonnes Marini Asphalt plant and another 170 tonnes per hour Marini being installed to enable the ministry to accomplish tasks in hard to reach areas. He said between now and 2019, the ministry’s attention is geared towards completing the currently ongoing and suspended projects, abandoned over years due to security challenges, in addition to the construction of Dikwa – Gamboru Ngala, as well as Gamboru-Ngala – Rann roads, construction through concession agreement with the Federal Infrastructure Concessioning and Regulatory Commision (ICRC) of 8 state roads, totalling 727 km across the state.

To this end, Lawan said that discussion was held with the Federal Ministry of works, housing and power on the completion of Dikwa – Gamboru Ngala abandoned Federal Government project while the contractor has expressed readiness to withdraw formally from the projects. According to him, the Federal Ministry of works has agreed to engage Borno state ministry of works to construct the road through the Borno State Road Maintenance Agency (BORMA).
