The Managing Director of the Hydraform, Robert Plattner, recently commented that majority of the Housing Projects by the federal and state governments are not designed to cater for poor Nigerians who are in desperate need of shelter.

Speaking during a visit to the Media Trust Limited yesterday in Abuja, Plattner said the government at all levels must adopt new technologies as alternative means of housing.
He said the Hydraform building technology is the material of choice if the authorities are looking to build for every segment of the society because it’s a brick which does whatever building block can do at a cheaper and qualitative manner.
Plattner said going against the cement market is difficult in many parts of the world because it’s a well-established market but the alternative building technology is just growing and a country like Nigeria should not be left behind.
He said the company had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Building Research Institute to create more awareness of the alternative technology in the building industry.
Managing Director of Hydroform Nigeria, Abdulhakeem Huthman, who accompanied Plattner, said: “We have built a three bed-room and sold it for N4.5million some years back and that was the cheapest you can get in the market at that time”.
He said his company had been training many Nigerians on the new technology, adding that it is the easiest way to provide mass housing and generate employment for millions of Nigerian youths.
