Transforming Ore to a N20 billion Sunshine City

In order to fast-track urban development in the commercial town of Ore in Odigbo local council, the Ondo State Government has commissioned the first phase of the multi-billion naira Ore Sunshine City (OSC).

The ultra modern city located at the site of the dismantled tollgate in Ore, along Lagos/Benin Expressway, covers 167 hectares of land and is estimated to gulp N12 billion in the next 15 years.

Developed under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement by the Ondo State Government, which has a 40 percent share and Liberty Development Company (LDC) with a controlling share of 60 percent, the Ore Sunshine City, when fully developed is expected to generate about 20,000 employments.

The project provides state of the art logistic hub, 150 housing units, golf course, container terminal, lock-up shops and shopping complexes and other structures to enhance commercial activities in Ore and Ondo State in general.

The Chairman of the Company, Mr. Gboyega Fatimehin disclosed that over N3 billion had been expended so far on the project, which started five years ago.

The first phase of the City that covers over 50 hectares of land, comprises trailer/bus parks, warehouses, workshops, recreation centers, hostels for travelers and general logistic hub.

Fielding question on the future of the project after Olusegun Mimiko administration, he said he had no doubt that the new government will continue to support the project because of its importance and commercial viability.
